How to create an account

When you’re ready to get started, follow these simple steps. (Remember: You can go at your own pace, and you can always come back later to finish.)

  1. You can start by watching our How to set up an account tutorial video or follow the written instructions below.
  2. Visit trovemarket.com and click Sell on Trove.
  3. Click Register as a Seller.
  4. Select Create an Account and enter your name, email address, and password. Complete the captcha, check the Terms & Conditions box, and click Create Account.
  5. Check your email for a verification code and enter it to confirm your email address.
  6. Create your store name. Choose something that helps people understand what you sell. (You can change this later if you want. Find creative tips in the How to customize your storefront section.)
  7. Add your mailing address using the ZIP code you’ll ship products from.
  8. Enter your phone number. You’ll receive a verification code by text message.
  9. Answer a few questions about your disability. These include your disability type, whether it’s permanent or temporary, whether you’re living at or below the federal poverty guidelines, and, if applicable, your guardian’s name.
  10. Review and agree to the terms, then click Next.

You should now see a message that says, “Congratulations! Your seller account is created.” From here, you can customize your storefront, start listing products, or take a break and come back later. Whatever works best for you.

How to set up Stripe

Stripe is the secure online payment system Trove uses to process all credit card and digital wallet payments. It safely handles checkouts, protects customer data, and makes sure sellers receive their earnings quickly and reliably.

To get started:

  1. You can start by watching our how to set up a Stripe account tutorial video or follow the written instructions below.
  2. Gather what you need. Before creating your Stripe account, make sure you have:
    • Your email address
    • Your legal name
    • Your business name (or your own name if you don’t have a business)
    • Your home or business address
    • Your phone number
    • Your bank account info (routing and account number)
    • A short description of what you sell
  3. Set up Stripe. First things first, you must use the Stripe link inside the Trove dashboard. Go to your Seller Dashboard → Store Settings → Banking Information. Click Create Stripe Account, and a new tab will open. Enter your phone number for verification. Enter your personal or business info (including your social security number). Enter your bank info… and you should be all set with Stripe! To make sure, return to Seller Dashboard → Store Settings → Banking Information. When the red indicator goes away, you’re done.
How to set up ShipStation

ShipStation is the shipping tool Trove uses to help sellers print labels, track packages, and manage orders. It works with USPS, UPS, and FedEx to make shipping simple, especially for new or first-time sellers.

To get started:

  1. You can start by watching our how to set up a ShipStation account tutorial video or follow the written instructions below.
  2. Gather what you need. Before creating your ShipStation account, make sure you have:
    • Your email address
    • Your legal name
    • Your business name (or your own name if you don’t have a business)
    • Your home or business address
    • Your phone number
    • Your account info for shipping carriers like USPS, UPS, and FedEx (Note: If you don’t have carrier accounts, you can use the carrier rates inside ShipStation.)
    • Your payment method for paying shipping labels
    • A list of your products, SKUs, weights, and shipping rules (if you have them)
  3. Set up ShipStation. Go to your Seller Dashboard → Shipping Settings. Click Create ShipStation Account, and a new tab will open. Choose a plan (we recommend the free one), and enter your info and payment details. Then, go to Configuration → API Keys → Copy the Production Key. Go back to your Trove Dashboard → Paste the Key → Save.
  4. Load money into your ShipStation account. This allows you to directly create labels within Trove’s platform. To start, ensure you are in a “production” environment and not a sandbox environment (located at the top header). Navigate to the left side of the page where there is an “Account” dropdown arrow. Click on “Carrier billing.”  Click on “add funds.” Once this step is completed, you can download shipping labels directly within Trove’s platform. Your customers are essentially paying you back for the shipping costs during the checkout process. If you also click the “automatically add funds” toggle, you can customize your settings so you don’t have to revisit this again.

How to Create a Shipping Label

Once your ShipStation account is connected and funded, you’ll be able to generate shipping labels directly from your Trove seller dashboard when someone purchases your item.

Watch our step-by-step tutorial. This video walks you through exactly how to create and download your shipping label so you can quickly send your item to the buyer.

How to customize your storefront

Your storefront is your space to introduce yourself and your work. Start by choosing a store name, then upload a banner, add a profile photo, and write an About section that shares a little about who you are and what you create. This helps buyers feel connected to you and your products.

Need help choosing your store name?

  • Keep it simple. Pick a name that clearly describes what you sell.
  • Make it memorable. Your name can reflect your style — modern, rustic, playful, minimalist, or anything in between.
  • Add a keyword (if it feels right). Including a main keyword can help people find your shop in search, but only if it sounds natural. If it feels forced, it’s okay to skip it.

Storefront banner tips:

  • Use a wide image: Choose a clear, wide photo or design. If you’re using a design tool, pick a rectangle shape. Recommended size: 1200 × 400 (about a 3:1 shape).
  • File guidelines:
    • Keep the file size under 5 MB
    • PNG files work best, but JPG/JPEG files are okay too
  • Use our Canva template: We’ve created easy-to-use banner templates in Canva that you can customize for your store. Follow the instructions below to get started.

How to use our Canva templates:

  1. Access the Canva template
  2. Add your image:
    • On the left side, click the button that says “uploads.”
    • Then, click the button at the top that says “upload files” and choose an image that you want to use that best represents your storefront.
    • When your image loads, you can click it and drag it to the photo placement space (this is the cloud/grass) or drag and drop it directly into that placeholder.
  3. Edit the store name text:
    • Double click on the text box and type your store name.
    • There is space for a short tagline or description.
    • If you don’t want this text, double click the text box and delete the copy.
  4. Download your banner:
    • In the top right corner of Canva, click “Share”
    • Select “Download”
    • Choose PNG as the file type
    • Click “Download”
  5. Upload it to your storefront
    • Once downloaded, upload the image as your storefront banner.

Tip: Your storefront doesn’t have to be perfect. You can update your name, photos, and About section anytime.

How to take product pictures

Great photos can help your products shine, which means more shares and more sales. Here’s what we recommend:

  • Take bright, clean images: Place your product in a well-lit area and center it in the frame.
  • Show it in action: Lifestyle photos help customers see how your product can be used and better reflect its size.
  • Capture multiple angles: Take pictures from the front and back, and include close-ups of details.
  • Keep it clear and focused: Make sure your images are sharp, well-lit, and easy to see.

Tip: If handling the camera or arranging products is tricky, don’t hesitate to ask a friend, family member, or helper to assist. You can still capture amazing photos with a little support.

How to write product titles and descriptions

Want your products to get discovered? To do this successfully, we recommend using keywords, or the words people might type when searching for products. (Don’t worry: Trove makes this easy with built-in tools, including an AI guide that helps you choose the best keywords to improve your listings.)

Here are a few tips:

  • Name your products clearly. Lead with your main keyword (what the item actually is) to help people find your item. For example, “Boho Rattan Wall Shelf – Nursery Décor Storage.” Avoid fluff or filler words.
  • Write what the product is, who it’s for, and its key features. Include your main keyword in the first sentence, and sprinkle in secondary keywords naturally (e.g., “farmhouse décor,” “minimalist kitchen storage”).
  • Explain what makes it special. Describe size, style, materials, colors, uses, etc., so shoppers know exactly what they’re getting.
  • Use tags. Mix style tags (rustic, modern, mid-century), item type tags (vase, dresser, lamp), and use-case tags (entryway décor, home office storage). As you’re doing this, think like a shopper: “What would I type in to find this?” (Note: You should also add alt text to your photo uploads for accessibility.)
